about

Surfing Down South is a book that explores the beginnings of surfing in the south west of WA, written by Sue-Lyn Aldrian-Moyle and published by Margaret River Press. It is dedicated to the pioneering surfers of the 50s, 60s and 70s who share riveting and often humorous anecdotes of their antics and adventures in their journey to discover their dream surf locations.

This website is dedicated to the stories and images of ground breaking surfers from this unique piece of Australian and surfing history, which we hope becomes a historical archive for all to enjoy. The project would not have been the same without the hard work of Jim King, who has been an avid researcher of West Australian surfing history, ensuring we can maintain our local history for future generations.
