In 1964 WA’s first State Surfing Titles were held in large surf at Yallingup. Barry King won the Juniors, Alex ‘Zac’ Kochanowitsch won the open and Jenny Shackley won the womens division. The State surfboard champs went on to represent Australia at the first World Surfing Titles held at Manly Beach NSW (won by Midget Farrelly). 1964 Bob Keenan came 2nd in Open Division of the State Surfing Titles held at Yalls. This photo shows Bob receiving his trophy from Jim Richards representing contest sponsor Ampol in front of a big crowd of spectators at Yalls.
