Mark’s father Cliff Hills from Cottesloe was a talented surfer and SW surfing pioneer. In August 1962 Cliff received a bravery award from the Royal Humane Society of Australasia for the attempted rescue of Geoff Dalziel at Yallingup Beach in April 1962.
