In February 1997 Saga Magazine in UK published an article on senior surfboard riders in West Australia.
Mick Marlin (Dunsborough WA) – In 1997 English journo Jeremy Hart wanted to do a story on geriatric surfers in Australia for a UK ‘seniors’ magazine’. He contacted his mate John Small, an expatriate Californian photographer who lives and surfs in WA, seeking background information for the story. The oldest WA surfers John knew were Dave Ellis, Murray Smith and me, so he nominated us. Jeremy flew to Perth with Qantas to conduct interviews for the magazine article. John Small took the photos. Way back then, I was just 47 years old!
