surfers and their dogs were inseparable on South West surf trips.
Lots of South West surf breaks are in National Parks where dogs are prohibited. Surfers used their guile to smuggle their hounds into the surf breaks.
On surf trips to Bears
surf break, Yallingup ‘sparkie’ Steve ‘Horny’ Campbell sat his dog on the front
seat of his work ute wearing a pair of sunnies and a surf cap to try and slip
past the Park Ranger. Enforcement of National Park and Dog Beach rules
put an end to that caper.

Bruce King – Rodney dog was born in Busselton and spent his leisure time on South West beaches. George Simpson owned one of Rodney’s brothers, but sadly his pup went to sleep under a large truck and met an early end ☹
