As Perth’s primary surf break in summer, Trigg Point has been busy since the 70s when swell, wind, tide & sand banks conditions align.
Surfboats, wave skis, surfboards, kneeboards,
coolites and surf contests have shared the waves.
Nothing much has changed! Over time some of the surf craft have become unfashionable, but TP waves still draw a crowd.
Trigg History
Trigg suburb and island were named after Henry Trigg, Superintendent of
Public Works for the Swan River Colony in 1842. In 1919 there were only 3
buildings in the locality, and holiday and fishing shacks begin to appear in
the 1920s. Source City of Stirling.
Editor:The
wave shape at Trigg Point does not seem to be as good as it was back in the
60-70s. It is understood sections of reef near the ‘Blue Hole’ and in front of
the Trigg SLSC were blown up in the 80-90s. This action by authorities may have
impacted on sand movement at Trigg Point.
It would be interesting if anyone
has a web link or proper recount of this action. And some before and after
photos.
