In the good old days, you could surf on your Malibu board in a pair of sluggo’s in summer and don a footy jumper in winter, if there was a chill.
During surfing’s formative years in the early-mid 60s there were no wetties, leg ropes, surf cams, online surf reports & crowds. Just a sprinkling of Gidget surf movies, weekly surf reports in weekend newspapers. Imported surf magazines from East Coast Oz and USA were feeding the growing interest in WA surfing.
City Beach goofy footer Ron Moss lived through the sixties and beyond.
