WA surfboard manufacturers started in the metropolitan area in the early 60s and spread to the southwest country region in the 70s. By the 80s WA had a thriving custom surfboard industry.

In the 1980s Lindsay Park left Murray Smiths factory to go out on his own as Lindsay Park Designs in Wangara. Lindsay worked with sailboarder Colin Leonhardt working with (Sail Logic), and Chris Lockwood was emerging as a young board designer for Lindsay. One of Lindsay Parks brands was ‘Tribal’ Surfboards.
Garry Rice (Sealines Surfboards Capel). “Note the logo changes on the Sealines advts, these were used on our boards at different periods during the mid-80s. Vance & Nancy Burrow were Sealines team riders at this time.“

Shaping guru, the late Greg Laurenson was making custom built boards under his own name in the Southwest 1982-83, but I couldn’t find an advertisement for this period.
Martin Littlewood has been manufacturing premier quality Delta Designs surfboards, kiteboards and tow boards in Margaret River since 1985.
Respected surfboard shaper Mark ‘Oggy’ Ogram (ex Auckland NZ) began making boards in Dunsborough in 1990 for H2O. He set up his first Yahoo factory in Clarke Street Dunsborough in 1994.
