Captain Nicholas Baudin visited the Southwest’s Geographe Bay in the corvettes, Geographe and Naturaliste in a French expedition of scientific discovery in 1801.
Many places along the WA coast are named in honour of Nicholas Baudin’s expedition. Point Picquet was named after Baudin’s Sub Lieutenant Picquet.
Point Piquet is a fickle, novelty surf break in Geographe Bay. It has been popular with board riders since the early 60s.
