Ocean Express surf magazine was created in Margaret River by Clive Slater (32) and Bill Gibson (32) in November 1986.
Clive Slater was a professional photographer and Bill Gibson did the editorial with input from local surfers.
In 1988 they were presented with the Orchard Hotel ‘Youth’ MediaCommunity Print award. Ocean Express received the award from Brian Burke at the Orchard Hotel (Perth WA) during his last engagement as Western Australia’s Premier.

The lads produced thirteen newsprint editions bi-monthly until late 1988 when additional financial support was not forthcoming and the mag was discontinued.
