In the 50s City Beach surfer Ray Geary was among the band of metro surfers who pioneered surfing in the Mandurah and Southwest regions.

Ray was a sign writer by trade and also designed t-shirts, parkas and surf shop signs for the surfing community.

Geary’s surf break at Mandurah was named after Ray’s family holiday shack on the hill behind Geary’s beach.

Ray is now retired and lives in the Mandurah region.
