Young surfers are always looking for something different to do between surf sessions.
Touring NZ surf photographer Ric Chan snapped these pics of Jeff ‘Re’ Marshall, Stewart Bettenay, Vin Nolan & an unidentified mate racing guinea pigs on a Wilyabrup farm in 1971.
The lads remember the guinea pigs belonged to the farmer but have no other recollections of the event, which is understandable as it happened over 50 years ago.
Ric Chan. “Muhahahaha as if i can recall what transpired that day. I only know it happened coz you raised the subject. I see that the others cant remember either – so my memory aint any worse than theirs.”
