WA surf pioneer Ray Geary told me about Black Point on the South Coast in 71 or 72. I surfed with the Miami Crew (Cosies in particular) including Ray from the early 60’s. Ray was a member of the WA 4×4 club with Ron Drage, Roy Mustoe and other early surfers. They discovered Black Point while fishing and surfing the Rainbow Coast. Denmark was their main go to place.
I first drove into Black Point in my EJ Holden panel van circa 1973 while returning from a surfing trip to Noosa and back with Daryl Bailie.
In 1974 I took the Miami Crew down south on a surf trip to Black Point, the surfers on this trip were Daryl Baillie (RIP), Mark Facious (RIP), Ross Facious (First WA surfer I knew who got his photo in Surfing World Mag a few years later riding Padang Padang Bali).

Attached is some Super 8 footage from our 1974 trip to Black Point, the last part of the film is of an altercation at The Spot Yanchep. I filmed the sequences and edited it. I only just found some of my old films. I also have a 30-minute film of Bali in 1977.
