1971 6KY Pop Festival at Parkerville Amphitheatre

In early 70s John Joseph Jones, a poet, playwright, singer and showman opened the doors of the Parkerville Amphitheatre to the counterculture and the emerging WA rock scene, with Parkerville becoming our very own Woodstock, replete with skinny dipping, love-making under the stars and outraged locals. In 1971 Perth’s popular hard rock band Bakery played with other bands at a 6KY Pop Festival held at the amphitheatre.

Bakery played to an ethusiastic big crowd at the 6KY Pop Festival. A great time was had by all!

Intrepid surf photographer, media journo, male model and night club DJ Ric Chan attended the event and covered the action for the media.

Ric Chan. “It was a wild time. The crowds loved the Bakery doods. I know I was there & took these pics.
