‘Old Scarborough’ local history book now available

North Beach resident historian Chris Holyday’s latest book Old Scarborough – A destiny Fulfilled is now available for purchase.

The stories and photos of early Scarborough have now been captured in the first comprehensive history book of its type. Early surfing, the Scarborough Hotel, Luna Park and dancing at the Snake Pit and Ye Olde Kool Korner Kafe, and much more are covered over 15 chapters.

It is available from tomorrow at Davey Real Estate offices at Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough and Flora Tce, North Beach. The North Beach Post Office is also selling it at the North Beach shops.

Retail price has been kept at $40 with a collectors run of the first 100 numbered and signed copies at $45 with $5 from each of those books being donated to The Friends of Trigg Island Bushland. The collectors’ books are only available from Davey RE offices – note the Scarborough office is cash only at present.

There will be upcoming talks and the book launch at Scarboro’ Surf Life Saving Club.

Front and back cover of Chris Holyday’s Old Scarborough book.

A great Father’s Day gift.
