Reflecting on Year 2014

2014 was a big year on WA surfing’s social calendar.

The Surfing Down South history book was launched at Vasse Felix Winery in February 2014.

The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro took place at Margaret River in April 2014.

Surfing WA held their 2014 Surfing Awards night at Surfers Point in conjunction with the Margaret River Pro in April. Special guests at the event were big wave champion Ian ‘Kanga’ Cairns and surf journalist/photographer Ric Chan. Surfing WA also launched their Surfing WA Celebrating 50 years book at the event.

Journalist Becky Felstead from the Augusta Margaret River Times took the opportunity to interview and write an article on surf journo/photographer Ric Chan during the Margaret River Pro event.

Additionally, Surfing WA Celebrated their 50 Years since incorporation at the Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club on 9 August 2014.

This year (2024) Surfing WA is celebrating its 60th Anniversary since incorporation in 1964.
