In the early 70s Scarborough surf photographer Ric Chan used to venture down Southwest dirt tracks in his maroon coloured 1962 Jaguar MK2 sports saloon fitted with mega woofer speakers, in pursuit of waves.
Ric Chan. “My maroon colour Jaguar Mk2 cost me $600 second-hand, and I drove it down the Gallows track.”
These 1970 photographs show Ric’s Jaguar packed with surfboards, being pushed up the uneven, sandy, dusty, occasionally boggy Gallows dirt track by a team of helpers.
