In 2009, Yallingup pro surfer Taj Burrow defeated Kelly Slater USA in the final of the Billabong Pipeline Masters at the Banzai Pipeline North Shore Hawaii.
At the Award presentations, Taj received a distinctive hand-crafted surfboard as a trophy. This unique board features a painting of Gerry Lopez surfing at Pipeline and bears the signature of the Hawaiian surfing legend himself.

Taj retired from the WSL World Tour in June 2016 but still surfs and wins invitational events around the globe.
