Dunsborough resident Brad Leonhardt has kindly shared some of his family’s 1970-80s images of old Dunsborough.
This collection is based on Brad’s images of Eagle Bay identity Aussie Osborn and the Bannamah Wildlife Park.
Aussie Osborn
Brad –Aussie Osborn and his family lived out at Eagle Bay. He was one of the only men to fight in WW2 and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He fought in WW2 with his father and was a prisoner of war. My dad used to look after the bar at the Country Club in the evenings, Aussie enjoyed a drop there.

Bannamah Wildlife Park
From the 70s to early 90s Bannamah wild life park had a wide range of Australian wild life on display and a family restaurant. The wild life park was located on the site of today’s Clancys Fish Pub on Caves Road Dunsborough.
Brad –After Dunsborough Cottages Bob Evans bought Bannamah in late 80s. My family leased the Dunsborough Beach Store out and we went to run Bannamah with the Evans. My dad and Bob Evans have been friends since childhood, we lived in the house at the entrance to Bannamah car park. The wildlife park had only the house as an entrance back then. Bob and Wayne Evans built the buildings that are in the pic below where Clancys stands now.
Bannamah Wild Life Park continued until the early 90s when it became a night club.
