Ian Brown was a member of the Cottesloe Board Club in the late 60s.
These are his 1969-70 Cottesloe Board Club recollections: –
I recently found the ‘Constitution ’ of the Cottesloe Board Club tucked inside an old surf book. This version of the Board Club was back in about 1969/70 and was obviously pretty informal as a club. See point 7.2 of constitution below.

Some of the guys in it as I recall were: –
Ian ‘Mitch’ Mitchell
Peter ‘Bruno’ De Bruin
Phil Taylor
Ricky Lobe
Mark & Paul O’Callaghan
Peter ‘Ryno’ Ryan the organiser.
Earl Quackenbush Club meetings were held monthly at his place in Peppermint Grove.
Les Wright
Al Fixter
Wes Babel Wes represented WA in the Aust Titles in 70 or 71….as did Mitch!
Other members maybe: –
Peter ‘Rinso’ Wise
Ian & Bruce Hocking
George & Mick Simpson?
David ‘Dappa’ Plaisted?
And a few more I can’t think of right now….

Right: 1970s Ian ‘Mitch’ Mitchell at Cottesloe.
Hard to be sure as we didn’t really have contests – it was more a means of giving the young guys a means of getting to places like Lancelin and Mandurah and sometimes Down South.
I think we had yellow and black tee shirts and maybe a sticker for our boards.

The last paragraph of the constitution explains why it lasted only a couple of years!

Ian Brown
Ian ‘Mitch’ Mitchell:That’s pretty much as I remember it, except I don’t think George & Mick Simpson and Peter ‘Rinso’ Wise were in the board club at that time!
Thanks for your Cottesloe Board Club recollections Ian and Mitch.
