Yallingup lagoon water shots by Jim King

On a sunny day its hard to beat the natural beauty of the lagoon at Yallingup Beach. The tranquil crystal clear lagoon is separated from the open ocean by a low calcarenite reef (type of limestone). It is ideal for snorkeling and swimming, it is also the gateway to the surf breaks outside the reef.

Take a look beneath the surface of the lagoon and you’ll discover a thriving marine ecosystem in the shallow waters.

Yallingup reef is a marine reserve where rod fishing is permitted, but other methods of collected marine life prohibited. All other marine life is protected. This includes live sea shells (including abalone), octopus, starfish, sea cucumbers, rock crabs, sea urchins, corals and algae.

This is a collection of water shots I have snapped in the lagoon with a small water proof camera.

Locals use the lagoon for their daily swim and the spot is enjoyed by families as it is safe for kids.
