1969 Tom Blaxell surfboard competition

In 1969 Tom Blaxell Surfboards ran a WA surfboard competition in conjunction with Sunday Times surf journalist the late Doug White.

The contest had a flexible format and weekly winners were selected from different surf breaks over the month of April and announced in Doug’s weekly surf column.

At the end of the contest period the official winner of the entire competition was State Open Champion Peter Bothwell.

Peter won a new custom surfboard from Tom Blaxell Surfboards in Scarborough Beach Road, Osborne Park.
