1975 Surf Contest at Trigg Point

Photos by Paul ‘Burnie’ Marchant

Paul ‘Burnie’ Marchant is a born & bred Scarborough surfer. In the 70s Burnie and his surfing mates were the Brighton gang…..Brighton Beach is the home of many surfers from Scarborough!

Bernie was an avid amateur photographer and captured 70s beach life images at Scarborough and beyond.

In 1975 Burnie captured these photos of a surf contest held at Trigg Point. It may have been the annual Trigg Point contest, organised by the Scarborough Board Club since 1969. However, it was not the King of The Point contest, which began in 1979 and was won by Mike McAuliffe.
