1964 Yallingup Beach images

Kelly Logan from Kendenup (small town north of Mount Barker) is the daughter the late John ‘Dandaragan’ Robertson of Yallingup.

Kelly’s grandfather Jim Richards worked for Ampol and presented trophies to the winners at the first State Surfing Championships held at Yallingup in 1964. Ampol sponsored the event.

These are Kelly’s Yallingup photos and comments.

Just found these pics from a surf comp in ’64, my Granddad Jim Richards is in the striped shirt, he gave out the trophies on behalf of his employer Ampol petroleum. I got the pics from my Uncle on the Richard’s side.

My Mum and Dad met at the house across from Caves House that weekend at Yallingup.

I spent a lot of time at Yallingup until age 21 and last March we rented Dad’s old house ‘the stagger inn’ atop Yallingup hill to get married in. Beautiful views from up at the house. Weather was awesome and it was so nice being back there especially as both Mum and Dad have passed away.

My grandparents and parents spent their honeymoons at Yallingup.
