2013 Foamlust Surf Festival at Margaret River

Margaret River surfer/surf historian Bill Gibson started the Foamlust Surf Festival circa 2010. In the early years it was held at Bill’s surfboard shed in Cowaramup.

In 2013 Bill and John Dutton formed a partnership and started running the Foamlust Surf Festivals at the Margaret River Cultural Centre over the Easter Long Weekend. The public was charged an entry fee to help cover running costs.

The 2016 Foamlust Surf Festival was run at the MR Cultural Centre….see promotion poster below: –

In 2018 the Foamlust Surf Festival was run at various venues in the Margaret River region and was sponsored by local businesses and Surfing WA.

The 2019 Foamlust Surf Festival will be held at Bill’s surfboard shed Lot 35 Jersey Street Cowaramup over September LWE (Sat 28 & Sun 29).

Bill Gibson – “Buy, sell, show, share all things surfing. Vintage boards, music from the Squid, arvo barbie, bit of shaping in the bay. Come and have a froth and share some tall stories.”

Photojournalist Sue-Lyn Aldrian-Moyle and panel members previewed the upcoming Surfing Down South (WA surf history) book in the Cultural Centre’s auditorium. The Surfing Down South book was published by Margaret River Press early in 2014.
