In the 60s and early 70s Colin and Jennie Cordingley from Cordingley Surfboards in Hay Street Subiaco captured WA surfing footage on a handheld Super 8 movie camera.
This footage by Jennie Cordingley features Yallingup Board Club members surfing Gallows and Castle Bay Dunsborough in the South West.
Kevin Ager (former Cordingley shaper). “This footage was taken circa 1967-68 when it was still about “riding the nose’.
The initial footage features a fun day on the lefts at the Gallows.
The second sequence shows the boys having fun on small lefts at Castle Bay Dunsborough. The surfer nose riding looks like John Staley from Bunbury, but it may be Jamie Doig, as they were both great nose riders and had similar styles”.
