The 1960s
were a fun time in and out of the water for Metro surfers. After a day’s
surfing with mates there were social activities to pursue. Options included drive-ins,
keg parties, Board Club cabarets, pubs, night clubs and Sunday sessions. An alternative
activity was night-time surfing under the light on the end of City Beach
groyne.
This was a
time before pc’s, mobiles, surf cams & strict drink driving regulations. Life
was simple 😊.
