I am the daughter of legendary surfing pioneer David Williams (RIP) “GLOBE HEAD.”
My Mother Glenys Gath (85) was Miss Trigg many years ago.
On the weekend ‘The Gath Family’ finally put three wonderful family members to rest.
Having a large family of cousins covering the coast of WA & over east we all met up to say our final goodbyes to Nana Daphne Gath & her sons Steve & Ricky Gath (both Legendary surfers originally from Trigg’s Beach then moving to the bigger waves at South Point Prevelly Park – Margaret River.
The Gath family reunited at Ric’s now youngest son Byron Gathplace. He runs the stunning 5 Star Air B&B The Breeze Villa, which was built by Ric & Bryron.
Ric’s other son Jesse & his wife Jennifer Gath now run “The Gath Helmet” doing well world wide.
Cousins enjoyed the reunion 🫂 💕 with the guys getting some early morning surfs in too.
All our hearts are with the ‘deep blue sea’ 🌊 and waves at Margs that now carry our family to their next life.
Rest in Peace 🙏

Gath Family background
William & Daphne Gath headed to Margaret River in the 70’s with Rics persuading along with Steve. Stev well known for riding the biggest of waves and awesome tube rider. Ric taking out two Margs Surfing comps (see photos of plaques on the staircase at the mouth of the main break).
Nana (Daphne) & Pop William) Gath had 4 children eldest Glenys, then Robin, Steven then youngest Ric.
Glenys had 2 – Danielle & Shelli
Robin had 3 – Julie, Kane, Jade
Steve had 2 – Korin & Amber
Ric had Jesse & Bryron
With the younger generations growing now as well.
Luckily Nana & Pop had passed away prior to the massive Prevelly Park fires where we unfortunately lost all of our grandparent’s house that was built by Ric and Steve on top of Isaacs Road.
